Your MP Gregory Stafford voted *against* tackling poverty and increasing protections for our children.
The Children's Wellbeing and Schools bill is the greatest increase in the rights and protections of children in a generation, offering increased Ofsted oversight of children's home providers, improved recognition of Kinship Carers, and concrete steps to keep families together.
It will also tackle poverty with free breakfast clubs in all primary schools in England, and by limiting the number of branded bits of uniform schools can ask parents to buy.
Your MP Gregory Stafford MP blindly followed his party leader, and voted against these measures by supporting an amendment that would have crashed the bill.
Opposition has a vital role in our democracy: the reasoned criticism of Government lawmaking, to improve and refine it.
So it is disturbing to see opposition parties using this landmark bill as an opportunity to grab headlines, cover up their own previous failures, and retraumatise child victims who have already given so much to recent enquiries. Enquiries which the Conservatives failed to act on.
